Crowded transport within networked representations of complex geometries

چکیده
Abstract Transport in crowded, complex environments occurs across many spatial scales. Geometric restrictions can hinder the motion of individuals and, combined with crowding, have drastic effects on global transport phenomena. However, general, interplay between crowding and geometry real-life is poorly understood. Existing analytical methodologies are not always readily extendable to heterogeneous these situations, predictions crowded behaviour rely computationally intensive mesh-based approaches. Here, we take a different approach based networked representations order provide an efficient framework explore interactions environments’ crowding. We demonstrate how this be used extract detailed information both at level individual as well whole population, identify topological features that enable accurate prediction phenomena, insights into design optimal environments.

We study two-dimensional diffusive motion of a tracer particle in restricted, crowded anisotropic geometries. The underlying medium is formed from a monolayer of elongated molecules [Cieśla J. Chem. Phys. 140, 044706 (2014)] of known concentration. Within this mesh structure, a tracer molecule is allowed to perform a Cauchy random walk with uncorrelated steps. Our analysis shows that the presen...
متن کاملLinear representations of semipartial geometries∗†
Semipartial geometries (SPG) were introduced in 1978 by Debroey and Thas [5]. As some of the examples they provided were embedded in affine space it was a natural question to ask whether it was possible to classify all SPG embedded in affine space. In AG(2, q) and AG(3, q) a complete classification was obtained ([6]). Later on it was shown that if an SPG, with α > 1, is embedded in affine space...
متن کاملMulti Person Tracking Within Crowded Scenes
This paper presents a solution to the problem of tracking people within crowded scenes. The aim is to maintain individual object identity through a crowded scene which contains complex interactions and heavy occlusions of people. Our approach uses the strengths of two separate methods; a global object detector and a localised frame by frame tracker. A temporal relationship model of torso detect...
متن کاملQuantifying transport in crowded biochemical environments
Transport of cells and biochemical molecules often takes place in crowded, heterogeneous environments. As such, it is important we understand how to quantify crowded transport phenomena, and the possibilities of extracting transport coefficients from limited observations. We employ a volume-excluding random walk model on a square lattice where different fractions of lattice sites are filled wit...
